Founded in 1999, Redgate is the leading provider of end-to-end Database DevOps. We create ingeniously simple software to help organizations get the most value out of any database, anywhere.
Redgate's journey started with SQL Compare and its state-based approach of comparing two databases and deploying the differences. Redgate Flyway's advanced capabilities are built on top of this same, market-leading database comparison technology.
Today Redgate offers software solutions to help database professionals automate, monitor and protect the databases in their IT infrastructure. More than 200,000 people globally, including 92% of the Fortune 100, trust Redgate to solve the complex challenges of database management across the DevOps lifecycle.
In 2010, Redgate extended its solutions for developing and deploying database changes to the launch of SQL Source Control and a set of Oracle solutions, bringing customers the ability to develop, version control and deploy database changes across two of the most popular RDBMS.
As more database professionals moved towards automated pipelines and Continuous Delivery, Redgate also developed a migrations-based approach in SQL Change Automation. In 2018, Redgate looked to support additional popular database systems, including PostgreSQL and MySQL.
In 2019, Redgate took the decision to acquire Flyway, bringing the industry standard for database migrations into the Redgate family. Within twelve months, Redgate had further developed the solution, bringing its market-leading database comparison technology to Redgate Flyway. This enabled customers to capture object-level history of database changes and auto-generate migration scripts, accelerating and de-risking the delivery of database changes.
Since then, Redgate's in-house engineering teams in Cambridge, UK, have continually innovated new capabilities for Redgate Flyway, including advanced database comparison support for PostgreSQL and MySQL, in addition to custom code analysis rules and GUI-based reporting.
Today, Redgate Flyway is used across multiple industries worldwide, including finance, healthcare, federal government, and more.
Redgate Flyway's roadmap is ambitious and includes advanced deployment rules and CLI capabilities, in addition to support for further DBMS and advanced capabilities for Snowflake.
Since 2019, Redgate has continued to work closely with the Flyway community, supporting both the OS version of Redgate Flyway while also developing a free Redgate Flyway Community edition that sits alongside its paid edition, Redgate Flyway Enterprise.
Over this time, Redgate has also grown Redgate Flyway's multi-DBMS support from capabilities for 20+ of the most common database engines to an ever-growing 50+ DBMS today. The engineering teams at Redgate continue to add further DBMS to Redgate Flyway's coverage in response to customer needs and industry trends.
