SQL Prompt Product Updates – March 2026
SQL Prompt's February releases focused on compatibility and stability, with a critical fix for SSMS 22.3 users and several features graduating from experimental to fully supported.
SSMS 22.3 Compatibility Fix
If you recently upgraded to SSMS 22.3 and experienced crashes with SQL Prompt installed, we've resolved this in v11.3.6. The issue caused SSMS to crash consistently on startup when SQL Prompt was present. If you were affected, updating to the latest version should resolve the problem — see our documentation for details.
This compatibility issue also extended to our other SSMS tools so you will also need to upgrade those to fully resolve the SSMS 22.3 crashes.
Features graduating from experimental
We've promoted several features from experimental to regular options based on user feedback and stability testing:
Automatic suggestion refresh now lives in the main Suggestions > Behavior options. When enabled, SQL Prompt automatically refreshes suggestions when it detects schema changes to your connected database — no more manually hitting Ctrl+Shift+D after creating or modifying objects.
IntelliSense cache sync (SSMS only) addresses a long-standing annoyance: by default, SSMS's IntelliSense doesn't pick up objects created by other connections. With this option enabled, refreshing SQL Prompt suggestions also refreshes the Microsoft IntelliSense cache.
Excel export precision is now a regular option in the new Query Results pane. This prevents Excel from rounding numerical values with more than 15 digits when exporting query results — useful if you're working with large IDs or precise decimal values.
Platform Support Improvements
We've added support for SQL Server 2025 database-scoped configuration preview features and fixed an issue with code completion for user-defined stored procedures in Microsoft Fabric SQL Databases
Help shape what's next for AI Code Completion
If you haven't tried AI Code Completion yet, now's a great time. The preview feature generates intelligent, multi-line code suggestions based on your query context — and can even write SQL directly from plain English comments in your editor.
We're actively developing this feature and your feedback is shaping what comes next. Try it out and let us know what you think via our AI feedback form or the built-in link in the Prompt AI window.
