SQL Prompt Product Updates – June 2026

This is a guest post from Adam Atreides.

SQL Prompt's May releases focused on a new Redgate Data Modeler integration, a unified Toolbelt Essentials installer flow, and several improvements to Prompt AI reliability.

Browse your database in Redgate Data Modeler directly from Object Explorer

SQL Prompt v11.3.15 adds an Open Data Modeler option to the Object Explorer context menu in SSMS. Right-clicking any database now gives you a direct shortcut to open it in Redgate Data Modeler in your default browser.

Data Modeler is now part of SQL Toolbelt Essentials, so if you're already a Toolbelt customer you've got access. This integration means you can jump straight from querying a database in SSMS to visualizing its schema in Data Modeler, without navigating there separately.

One installer to update them all

v11.3.13 updates the Check for Updates flow in SSMS to launch the SQL Toolbelt Essentials installer rather than the standalone SQL Prompt installer.

Previously, updating SQL Prompt through the check for updates (CFU) mechanism left your other Redgate tools on older versions, requiring you to update them separately and one at a time. Now, when SQL Prompt prompts you to update, you get the full Toolbelt Essentials installer that brings all your Redgate SSMS tools up to date together. This change will make the update process less tedious and also reduce the likelihood of SSMS incompatibility issues where one or more Redgate SSMS plugins are not running on the latest versions.

Prompt AI reliability fixes

Two fixes across v11.3.13 and v11.3.14 address scenarios where Prompt AI could become stuck or disabled within an SSMS or Visual Studio sessions.

In v11.3.13, a bug could cause the Prompt AI availability check to fail permanently for the rest of the session after a temporary network issue or server-side blip, even once connectivity was restored. The only workaround was restarting SSMS or Visual Studio. That workaround is no longer needed.

v11.3.14 fixes a separate issue where the Check Prompt AI availability command in the SQL Prompt main menu could become permanently disabled, blocking access to Prompt AI features until a restart. Both fixes make AI features more resilient to transient failures without interrupting your workflow.
