First base monitor

The Base Monitor in Redgate Monitor, also known as the monitoring service, is a crucial component that collects and processes data from your SQL Servers. It is a Windows service that must connect to both the Redgate Monitor database and the SQL Servers you want to monitor

Here are the key functions of the Base Monitor:

  1. Data Collection: It gathers performance and diagnostic data from the monitored SQL Servers.
  1. Data Processing: It processes the collected data and stores it in the Redgate Monitor database.
  1. Alerting: It generates alerts based on predefined conditions and thresholds.

The Base Monitor needs to be configured with the correct connection details to the Redgate Monitor database and the SQL Servers. This setup ensures that it can effectively monitor and report on the health and performance of your SQL Server instances.
