This month starts with big news for Snowflake teams: the advanced capabilities of Flyway Enterprise are now in preview for Snowflake, following Databricks in July. Advanced capabilities for Snowflake, now in preview

As more of the business comes to depend on Snowflake, its schema needs the same governance as any other production system. Too often, change happens through ad hoc scripts, tribal knowledge, or direct access in Snowsight. The advanced capabilities SQL Server, Oracle, and PostgreSQL teams already rely on in Flyway Enterprise are now in preview for Snowflake, covering both Snowflake databases and Snowflake Postgres: version every schema change, generate versioned and undo migrations that handle dependencies, run policy checks before deployment, and detect drift in any environment.

The Flyway MCP Server: governed database change for your AI coding assistant

AI coding assistants are fast, but they can't see your database: which migrations have been applied, or what your policies allow. The Flyway MCP Server exposes Flyway's commands as tools that Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, or any MCP-compatible agent can call directly, so AI-authored changes get the same version control, policy checks, and audit trail as human-authored ones. It's in public preview for Flyway Enterprise now.

The Flyway Docker provisioner, now in public preview

"Why do I need to give Flyway this extra database?" It's one of the most common blockers we hear when teams set up a Flyway project. The new Docker provisioner answers it: set provisioner = "docker" on an environment and Flyway spins up a build or shadow database matching the exact engine and version of your real environment, with no server, compose file, or port juggling. SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, and Oracle are supported, and it's in Flyway Desktop too.
