SQL Prompt Product Updates – November 2025
SQL Prompt’s November release brings new features to SQL Prompt AI, bug and performance fixes to SQL History and support for SQL Server 2025 preview.
AI-powered fix and optimization using Prompt AI
We’ve added two new features to SQL Prompt AI this month: fix and optimize.
Fix SQL
Resolve query errors using the Fix SQL action in Prompt AI. It detects syntax and logic issues in SSMS and applies fixes to your SQL. Trigger fixes from the Prompt AI menu or with Shift+Alt+R. Prompt AI now offers (can be disabled) to apply a fix when a query failure is detected in SSMS — helping you recover faster and keep your workflow uninterrupted.
Optimize SQL
Speed up slow queries by using the Optimize SQL action in Prompt AI. The optimize feature uses AI to analyze your SQL, which is then optimized and annotated by Prompt AI. It applies only safe recommendations automatically, while more impactful changes are provided as commented suggestions for you to review.
Any feedback on these new features would be greatly appreciated. You can provide feedback via the Prompt AI dialog (pictured below) or by emailing us at sqlprompt-feedback@red-gate.com.
SQL Server 2025 preview support
We’re pleased to announce that SQL Prompt now supports SQL Server 2025 preview syntax, including recognition of newly introduced keywords, data types, and functions. Full details on supported syntax and usage can be found in the official documentation.
SQL History Fixes
We’ve made several improvements to SQL History this month. A bug that could trigger a crash for some users when opening SQL History has been fixed. We also resolved an issue where non-SQL documents were incorrectly processed when closed in SSMS 21 and VS 2022. In addition, multiple stability issues and crashes related to manipulating SQL query editor documents—particularly within SQL History—have been addressed to ensure a smoother experience.
