Redgate Test Data Manager Product Updates – September 2025
Redgate Test Data Manager’s September release introduces AI dataset generation, streamlined database connectivity, and improved validation. These updates eliminate manual work and configuration errors while maintaining security and data quality standards.
AI Custom Datasets – removing manual dataset creation
Although we have datasets built in, you might need something more specialized. Now you can generate custom datasets for anonymization using AI instead of building them manually. Describe what you need using simple prompts – “Spanish first names” or “US registration plate patterns” – and AI creates the dataset automatically with proper formatting.
Previously, custom lists required hand-building and memorizing syntax requirements. This removes that friction for teams working with diverse data types not covered by predefined datasets.

Note: This capability has been released in preview. Expect refinements as we gather feedback.

Connection String Builder – simplifying database connections
Connect to any supported database through a simple form instead of manually writing connection strings. Select your server, database, and authentication method through dropdowns and the connection string builds automatically.
This eliminates struggling with connection string syntax across different database types, often requiring external references or debugging typos.
Smart Masking Validation – preventing configuration errors
Test Data Manager now checks the data you’ve selected to anonymize before running masking, preventing failures. The system hides datasets too large for target columns and displays warnings when unsupported column types are selected.
This catches compatibility issues during configuration rather than job execution, saving time by preventing failed runs.
AWS RDS Support – expanding cloud database compatibility
Subset and anonymize data directly from AWS RDS SQL Server and PostgreSQL instances. Teams using AWS RDS can now apply the same workflows they use for on-premises databases, maintaining consistent data protection practices across hybrid environments.
