Our State of Database Landscape Survey is back! Have your say on the latest industry technology and trends

State of the Database Landscape Survey

The database landscape is constantly evolving and, with major technologies such as Artificial Intelligence now emerging, it’s changing the landscape permanently.

In 2024, we’re seeing many advances in technology and trends as a result. But what is making the most impact, what’s most important for you, and how are these trends going to change your career trajectory? We want to hear from you in the latest State of the Database Landscape Survey.

This year’s key themes

Last year’s survey gathered insights from over 3,800 global IT professionals across a broad range of themes, including database platforms and practices, AI, cloud migration, and more. Building on the findings, the survey this year will focus on four key topics that we think will be of most interest to the database community:

  • Learning and Career Development
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Cloud
  • Security and Risk

Last year we saw nearly a third (30%) of development teams deploying database changes to production in a day or less, up 50% from just two years ago. The majority (79%) of IT teams are now also using more than one database platform, with 29% of respondents using more than five.

We’re curious to see how the landscape has evolved further. How you’re using AI technologies in database management, for example, how you’re working with the cloud, what your security challenges are, and how you’re prioritizing your career development.

Whether you’re a developer, DBA, senior manager or IT Leader, we’re interested in hearing from you. The questions are tailored to suit all levels.
