Sensitive Action Log in Redgate Monitor Enterprise

I’m excited to announce a new capability in Redgate Monitor Enterprise: the Sensitive Action Log.

As infrastructure becomes more complex, it’s more critical than ever to maintain control over how your monitoring environment is configured and accessed. Whether you’re responding to internal compliance policies, preparing for audits, or simply tightening operational security, it’s key to understand who did what, when.

What is sensitive action logging?

The Sensitive Action Log provides a record of important actions taken by Redgate Monitor users, which affect how Redgate Monitor is configured. That includes for example adding or removing monitored servers, modifying alert configurations, making changes to user access or roles, as well as other actions like making login attempts (whether successful or failed).

These logs are separate from the data gathered about the servers being monitored — this functionality focuses specifically on Redgate Monitor itself, helping you maintain control over your observability infrastructure.

To prevent tampering and ensure the integrity of these logs, they can be stored out of reach of even Administrator users of Redgate Monitor.

Why It Matters

Sensitive action logging provides a complete audit trail of sensitive operations, so you can detect and investigate unauthorized or unexpected changes to Redgate Monitor.

This enhances security and helps improve your compliance readiness: for teams operating under regulatory frameworks like SOC 2, ISO 27001, or HIPAA, detailed logging of administrative actions is often a requirement. The Sensitive Action Log helps you meet those expectations out of the box.

In multi-user or cross-functional teams, this feature helps ensure accountability by tying every sensitive action back to an authenticated user.

Available Now in Redgate Monitor Enterprise

Sensitive action logging is available starting today in the Enterprise Edition of Redgate Monitor. If you’re an existing customer, this feature is enabled by default when you upgrade to v14.0.58+.
