Celebrating Women in Tech Week at Redgate
From 13–17 October, Redgate joined the nationwide celebration of Women in Tech Week, a week dedicated to recognizing and amplifying the voices of women shaping the future of technology.
We know that Women continue to face barriers to opportunity and representation in the wider industry. However, at Redgate we embrace diversity, enabling teams to do their best work. Women have long played a vital role in advancing the tech industry so we’re using this opportunity to spotlight some inspiring stories.
Throughout the week we collaborated with SheCanCode, a platform and community that empowers women in technology through resources, mentoring, and storytelling. Our partnership provided a fantastic opportunity to share Redgaters’ experiences, highlight career journeys, and most importantly, take part in conversations about inclusion and representation in the tech sector.
Inspiration and building connection
We began the week with two brilliant contributions from Redgaters:
Diparati Sen, Product Designer, shared her story of pivoting from hospitality into tech, and how that experience refined her approach to customer feedback and product design.
Dawn Nair-Bartlett, Receptionist & Facilities Assistant in our Cambridge office, reflected on the impact of her role in connecting teams and the importance of empathy and soft skills in fostering collaboration.
Learning through experience
Midweek, we highlighted a podcast featuring three of our 2025 interns, Karyna Botvina, Blessing Emmanuel, and Rukaiya (Kai) Khondaker, who joined SheCanCode earlier this year to discuss their experiences of interning at Redgate.
Hosted by Kayleigh Bateman, the episode explored what a real tech internship involves (spoiler: it’s not fetching coffee). The interns spoke candidly about bridging the gap between university theory and real-world software development, from navigating legacy codebases and agile workflows to developing crucial collaboration and communication skills. They also shared how Redgate’s supportive culture empowers interns to contribute meaningfully while maintaining a healthy work–life balance.
You can listen to the full podcast, “What Does a Real Tech Internship Actually Involve?”, on the SheCanCode website.
Spotlight series: Redgate Women in Tech
Throughout the week, we revisited our Spotlight Series, featuring Q&As with Redgaters Moyo, Sabrina, and Priya. Each shared unique insights into their career paths, current roles, and advice for anyone building a career in technology. Their stories, alongside other blogs, podcasts, and webinars, are available on our SheCanCode company profile.
Rounding off the week
To close out Women in Tech Week, Alison Leightley, Events Marketing Manager at Redgate, joined SheCanCode for an inspiring discussion about her career journey, from studying biochemistry and spending a decade in the lab, to pivoting into commercial roles and ultimately finding her passion in marketing. Her story is a powerful reminder that growth often comes from embracing change and seizing new opportunities.
Women in Tech Week 2025 may be over, but the conversations it sparked continue. At Redgate, we remain committed to supporting women in technology every week of the year, by sharing stories, championing diverse perspectives, and fostering an inclusive environment where everyone can thrive.
