SCIM provisioning is now available

Redgate now supports SCIM (System for Cross-domain Identity Management), offering an automated provisioning and deprovisioning experience for our customers. SCIM provisioning can be configured on our customer portal.

Building on the work we completed in 2023 around SSO (single-sign on), we’ve now expanded the capabilities of the Redgate customer portal to also support automatic provisioning and deprovisioning for our user-based products. With the setup of SCIM and the creation of provisioning rules, users can become eligible to use our products via automation, eliminating the need for customers to manually assign their users. The deprovisioning process will also be automated, meaning users will have their products removed when they are removed from the scope of the provisioning rule.

Full instructions on setting up SCIM provisioning are now available, and the setup will likely need some assistance from your IT department.

What is SCIM?

  • SCIM allows for the automatic provisioning and deprovisioning of user accounts across various applications and services, reducing the need for manual user management
  • Ensures consistency and compatibility through a standardized protocol for exchanging user identity information between identity providers and service providers
  • Supports the synchronization of groups as well as users

What are the benefits of using SCIM provisioning?

  • Less admin – SCIM automates the provisioning and deprovisioning of users for our user-based products, meaning customers spend less time managing their Redgate products
  • Faster rollout – By using automation, new users will receive access to their products faster, and departing users will free up their seats more quickly
  • Improved security – Promptly updating users’ access to products helps ensure that only authorized users have access to the necessary products
