Cambridge, UK, Friday 6 June, 2025 – Redgate Software today announced significant enhancements to Redgate Flyway, its industry-leading database DevOps solution. The new enterprise-grade features are designed to simplify complex deployments, reduce risk, and alleviate pressure on development teams – empowering organizations to scale DevOps with confidence.
The latest release of Redgate Flyway Enterprise introduces powerful capabilities that give teams greater flexibility and control over their database deployment processes. With support for both state-based and migrations-based approaches, expanded workflow integrations, and automated deployments with built-in checks and reporting, teams can now tailor their processes to fit their environments while minimizing risk.
Flyway Enterprise’s latest release joins its renowned capabilities that include script auto-generation from schema changes, support for over 50 DBMS, and enhanced schema comparison to help standardize changes, reduce manual effort, and improve consistency across environments.
“One of the biggest challenges we face is inconsistency between development and production environments,” said Thomas Rushton, SQL Server DBA at COEO, a UK-based IT services and consultancy firm. “These gaps can lead to broken deployment scripts, unexpected behavior, and data integrity issues. Even when deployments appear successful, untested changes can cause urgent, high-stress problems that require out-of-hours fixes.”
Despite modernization efforts, many teams still struggle with unreliable deployments, inconsistent environments, and the stress of managing high-risk releases, often outside of business hours.
Ryan Hird, Technical Lead of Platform Engineering at Bennetts, a specialist insurance firm, shared: “We used to rely on early-morning, out-of-hours releases with minimal support, which introduced unnecessary risk. Moving to smaller, incremental changes during business hours has significantly improved reliability and reduced pressure on our team.”
Max Drobot, Group Product Manager for Redgate Flyway, emphasized the broader impact: “Database deployment stress is one of the most persistent – but least discussed – contributors to developer burnout. That’s why this major Redgate Flyway release is centered on two key pillars: flexibility and control. Flexibility ensures Flyway meets teams where they are today and grows with them over time. Control gives teams powerful, accessible tools to make every deployment repeatable, reliable, and stress-free.”
He added: “You shouldn’t be lying awake worrying about what might break after a deployment. With new capabilities for schema comparison, change deployment, and versioning, Flyway helps teams automate safely and deploy with confidence. It meets teams where they are, adapts to their workflows, and gives developers back the time and headspace to focus on what matters.”
These enhancements build on Flyway’s core strengths: a robust comparison engine, trusted reliability, and support for plain SQL – making it accessible to teams with varying levels of database expertise. The solution now offers expanded support for SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle and MySQL, helping teams manage complexity and scale more effectively.
The onboarding experience has also been improved with features like backups as baselines and automatic shadow database creation, enabling faster, more confident adoption.
A live training session on June 26, 2025, will showcase how teams can leverage these new capabilities, with a deep dive into state-based deployments and strategies for bringing more automation and control into existing workflows.
