Redgate Software Launches Redgate Data Modeler Following Acquisition of Vertabelo Data Modeler

CAMBRIDGE, UK, October 7, 2025 – Redgate Software, the end-to-end Database DevOps solution provider, today announced the launch of Redgate Data Modeler, a new SaaS-based data modeling tool that enables teams to collaboratively design, document, and manage complex data estates in the cloud.

The launch follows Redgate’s acquisition of Vertabelo Data Modeler, a trusted tool used by thousands of data professionals worldwide. Now branded Redgate Data Modeler, the tool reflects Redgate’s commitment to delivering a unified, multi-database development experience and marks an important milestone in its strategic roadmap.

Jakub Lamik, CEO at Redgate, said: “We’ve been aware of Vertabelo’s presence in the database space for some time, and it quickly became clear that the company’s offerings were a natural fit with Redgate. Vertabelo brings a SaaS-native, platform-agnostic modeling solution that complements our existing strengths and extends our reach beyond SQL Server. This acquisition strengthens our ability to support every stage of the database development lifecycle – from design through to deployment – and accelerates our portfolio offerings towards increased productivity and automated database development.  With Redgate Data Modeler, customers gain a powerful, collaborative tool that reduces complexity, increases reliability, and helps teams deliver value faster.”

As data estates grow, development teams are increasingly working across multiple database platforms. Redgate’s latest State of the Database Landscape report revealed that 79% of organizations now use more than one database platform, with nearly a third (29%) using more than five.

Redgate Data Modeler helps teams overcome the complexity of working across multiple database platforms by supporting 10 database types, including SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MySQL. With its intuitive interface, real-time collaboration, and cloud-native architecture, it enables teams to visualize, document, and evolve database structures without needing to write SQL – making it easier to design reliable databases, faster and together.

While the name is new, the technology behind Redgate Data Modeler is proven. Formerly known as Vertabelo Data Modeler, the tool has been widely adopted by data professionals for its ease of use and built-in versioning. Existing users will continue to enjoy the same trusted functionality, now combined with a strong future roadmap for DevOps integration and backed by Redgate’s global reach, community ecosystem, and product development expertise.

Jarosław Błąd, CEO of Vertabelo, said: “From the very beginning, when we started talks with Redgate about this acquisition, we knew there was a true alignment between our companies. Redgate, like Vertabelo, is committed to delivering best-in-class database products, with customers’ needs at the very heart of their design process. We truly believe that Redgate is a great new home for the modeler, and that their experienced and committed team will take it to the next level and beyond.”

The acquisition of Vertabelo Data Modeler closed on 17 September 2025, forming part of Redgate’s long-term strategy to expand its product portfolio and invest in solutions that reflect how data professionals work today. Vertabelo remains a standalone business following the tool’s acquisition by Redgate and will continue to focus on its educational mission – helping people learn SQL and Python through hands-on courses available at LearnSQL.com and LearnPython.com.

Redgate has a proven history of acquiring and building value into tools and services that support the global database community. In recent years, the company has integrated both Flyway, the leading open-source database migrations tool, and DB-Engines, the independent authority on database trends and rankings, into its portfolio – expanding its capabilities and strengthening its leadership in the market.

The launch of Redgate Data Modeler continues this trajectory, laying the foundation for further innovation in multi-database, cloud-based productivity solutions.
