Fulfil your potential as a designer.

Joining as a UX Designer you will be first and foremost responsible for creating great experiences for our users. We won’t get in your way with policy and process, and in fact will do everything we can to ensure you do can do the best work of your life here at Redgate. You’ll be responsible for supporting a product team through all phases of the design process and working with others in the business to help define the product vision and resulting roadmap.

We can offer a truly enjoyable challenge in a distinctly non-corporate environment where you’re encouraged to learn and develop your full range of skills whilst working on real, valuable, commercial products.

Working in this role will involve:

  • Understanding our users and the nature of their problems through regular engagement;
  • Helping teams focus on the key challenges by distilling raw research into meaningful insights;
  • Ideating, exploring and collaborating with the product team on a range of possible solutions;
  • Seeking rapid user validation by creating low-fidelity designs/prototypes;
  • Working closely with Software Engineers throughout the implementation process;
  • Refining and improving the usability of a solution through testing, analysis and iteration.

To apply for this role you are/have:

  • Experience in a UX/product design role (ideal but not essential);
  • A portfolio of your recent design work (can include academic projects);
  • A good understanding of user-centred design and design principles;
  • Able to demonstrate a clear, methodical approach to problem-solving;
  • Able to recognise the importance of solving the right problems;
  • Someone who deeply cares about all aspects of the user experience;
  • An open, collaborative and inclusive approach to design;
  • Continually looking to learn and grow as a designer.

  • This role is based in Cambridge, UK and we provide extensive relocation support
  • Salary between £30-£35k dependent on experience
  • You’ll work about 40 hours a week, with flexible work time

The Redgate Recruitment process

Step 1

Step 1. Application

Step one is your application. So write a letter and upload it on the page for the job you’re interested in. Tell us about yourself, your skills and experience, and talk about why you’d like to work at Redgate. Step 3. 1st Interview

Step three is an interview in our Cambridge office. We’ll talk about your work history, your covering letter or video, and any assessments you’ve completed. You might also be asked to do some work-based tests and, if you’re applying for a technical role, expect technical questions – we love talking tech.

Step 4

Step 4. 2nd Interview

The second interview typically lasts two hours. You’ll be talking to different people, you may well meet people you’ll be working with, and we’ll allow time for you to ask questions. We don’t have a dress code at Redgate, by the way, so dress in whatever makes you comfortable.

If we think you’d be great at Redgate, we’ll make an offer and iron out any details like relocation issues. If we don’t think you’ll fit in right away, we’ll tell you why. Some people have taken our advice, boned up their knowledge and come back a year later and got a job. It helps.
