Software Engineer (Internal Systems)

Redgate develops products that are transforming how teams worldwide are delivering their software. Our products solve the most challenging problems across the development lifecycle, enabling database code to be integrated into Agile workflows and database estates to be monitored and managed to ensure performance and security.

The teams that sell, market, support and build Redgate products are supported internally by a great crossfunctional teamof Software Engineers, Data Specialists, DevOps engineers and Product Owners who we refer to as capability teams

We’re looking for experienced software engineers to join one of our capability teams. If you’re passionate about writing great code, integrating systems, love working in a team, and want to shape the software we use internally, we want to hear from you.

At Redgate, we believe that the best software comes from engaging small teams with clear purpose, freedom to act, and a drive to learn.

Redgate is committed to supporting remote working throughout 2021 for all our people, including new people who join us. We’re also aiming to accommodate COVID-safe office-based working for people who prefer to work this way when and where we can. Understanding how we can evolve our ways of work to offer flexibility and the benefits of both worlds after the pandemic is over is a key company goal for 2021.

Teamwork

You’ll work in a small cross-functional team, taking full responsibility for delivery and operations of the systems we build and support. You’ll be involved at every stage of development, from early-stage research to writing, testing and deploying code, fixing bugs and handling support requests from our internal customers.

You’ll learn how different Redgate divisions work and apply technology to solve their problems.

You’ll need to thrive in collaborative, agile and diverse environments and have the confidence to challenge the roadmap with new data and insight and the flexibility to change direction based on new evidence. Balancing customer needs and market opportunity while building ingeniously simple software is at the heart of engineering at Redgate.

Culture

At Redgate, you’ll be able to develop the skills you want the way you want, and we’ll be there to support, advise, and encourage you. We’ll give you the freedom, flexibility, and trust to excel at what you do. You’ll be working with bright people who are experts at what they do. You’ll learn from us, and we’ll learn from you.

Redgate operates as a flexi-time business and without a dress code. We trust you to get the work done in a way that makes you most productive, and we’ll provide you with all the equipment and tech you need to do so.

We take personal development seriously at Redgate. We run frequent lightning talks, open spaces (mini-conferences run by Redgate engineers), and a yearly Down Tools Week. We have a healthy budget for attending conferences, and for the last three years, we’ve even held our own with all sessions run by Redgate employees.

Achieving work-life balance has never been more critical, and Redgate is committed to supporting remote working throughout 2021 for all of our people, including those of you joining us! We’re also aiming to accommodate COVID-safe office-based working for people who prefer to work this way when and where we can. Understanding how we can evolve our ways of work to offer flexibility and the benefits of both worlds after the pandemic is over is a company goal for 2021.

Our hiring process

Application

Tell us about yourself, your skills and experience, and talk about why you’d like to work at Redgate.

Include a CV, or a link to your LinkedIn page, and if you'd like to show some of your work, attach your portfolio or point us to Stack Overflow or GitHub.

Assessments

We’ll acknowledge your application straight away, review it and keep you updated on your progress. We might also email an assessment to complete, or invite you for a brief telephone interview. If we don’t think you’re suitable we’ll tell you why. We won’t let you down, we’ll try and help you.

Our assessments focus on how well you’re able to do the job – we won’t ask you to solve arbitrary logic puzzles.

Interviews

You’ll be talking to different people, you may well meet people you’ll be working with, and we’ll allow time for you to ask questions. We don’t have a dress code at Redgate, by the way, so dress in whatever makes you comfortable.

We want you to be relaxed and at your best in our interviews. If there's anything you'd especially like us to ask you about, or any parts of the interview you dread, let us know.

Offer

If we think you’d be great at Redgate, we’ll make an offer and iron out any details like relocation issues.

If we don’t think you’ll fit in right away, we’ll tell you why. Some people have taken our advice and come back a year later and got a job.
