IT Operations Manager

Redgate is looking for a talented IT Operations Manager. You will lead a team of talented DevOps engineers, Sys Admins, License Administrator and Service Desk Analysts.

Reporting to the Head of IT, you will work with key stakeholders and your team to maintain, support and build critical IT infrastructure that ensures Redgate functions as a business. This role will be an exciting prospect for someone who wants to build close working relationships with peers and support the way business is influenced through IT. You and your team will get the opportunity to lead on how IT underpins the success of Redgate.

What makes you Redgate’s next ITOPs Manager?

  • Demonstrable experience of managing and leading an IT team
  • Proven experience of design, delivery and support of internal IT, cloud computing, virtualisation, containerization and network infrastructure
  • High level of prior professional experience in a similar role involving IT management
  • Experienced how great leadership can move a team from good to great and shape how it operates
  • Practical experience of maintaining and building fault tolerant IT infrastructure and processes
  • Experience of building, developing and supporting a fault tolerant, scalable IT architecture and processes that can support a scaling business
  • Solid experience of IT security and compliance regulations such as GDPR, PCI-DSS or ISO 27001
  • Excellent leadership skills inspiring business and team confidence whilst acting as a behavioural role model to others
  • Practical experience of balancing the demands and needs of the business versus delivering the right thing for the long-term benefit of the company
  • Demonstrable experience of supporting and growing a team with varied technical skills. Understands what great management is and practices it.
  • Experience of identifying and implementing process and continuous improvement
  • You have a clear understanding of business strategy and can ensure alignment with the work, your team and the requirements from technology
  • You’ll have a desire to take the initiative, be innovative, question the status quo and adapt to changing circumstances
  • You’ll be able to spot opportunistic new ideas and determine trade-offs and realistic outcomes for work carried out by your team
  • Ability to collaborate broadly, including supporting, influencing and leading those with project responsibilities within Redgate’s divisions

The Redgate Recruitment process

Step 1

Step 1. Application

Step one is your application. So write a letter and upload it on the page for the job you’re interested in. Tell us about yourself, your skills and experience, and talk about why you’d like to work at Redgate. Include a CV, or a link to your LinkedIn page, and if you'd like to show some of your work, attach your portfolio or point us to Stack Overflow or GitHub.

Step 2. Assessment

We’ll acknowledge your application straight away, review it and keep you updated on your progress. We might also email an assessment to complete, or invite you for a brief telephone interview. If we don’t think you’re suitable, we’ll inform you – and tell you why. We won’t let you down, we’ll try and help you.

Step 3

Step 3. 1st Interview

Step three is an interview in our Cambridge office. We’ll talk about your work history, your covering letter or video, and any assessments you’ve completed. You might also be asked to do some work-based tests and, if you’re applying for a technical role, expect technical questions – we love talking tech.

Step 4

Step 4. 2nd Interview

The second interview typically lasts two hours. You’ll be talking to different people, you may well meet people you’ll be working with, and we’ll allow time for you to ask questions. We don’t have a dress code at Redgate, by the way, so dress in whatever makes you comfortable.

If we think you’d be great at Redgate, we’ll make an offer and iron out any details like relocation issues. If we don’t think you’ll fit in right away, we’ll tell you why. Some people have taken our advice, boned up their knowledge and come back a year later and got a job. It helps.
