backing up servers?

What solution is best for backing up servers? I want to backup file shares, Exchange backup, SQL backup and create full snapshots of each server to back up. I would like one piece of software to be able to do all of this and push a copy into the "cloud" as well as write a copy to an off site NAS that is part of our network.

We currently have an SSIS package that restores a database from a SQL SERVER BAK file. Our backups are now being preformed with RedGate. How do I get SSIS to execute the SQBConverter.exe to convert an SQB file into one BAK file?

Is it legal to sell candy to other people at a sports game? If you are at a high school or college basketball game can you legally sell candy at the game with no permit or license? I'm thinking of selling for a dollar only thing is I am afraid the people who work at the basketball game will complain because I may be stealing some of the food stand's customers since the food stands sell them for like $2 each. I can go to the sports game with friends who are players.

How do I make A VPN connection wireless? Anyone have any idea how I would go about making my University internet connection, which I get through an ethernet VPN connection, wireless? I have a netgear DG834Gv3 wireless router and am curious to know if it would be possible to somehow put the VPN connection through it to have it wireless?

Hi,

Is there a way to convert SQLBackup 5 (.SQB) file format to SQLBackup 6 or higher file format.

I would like to use the SQLVirtual Restore to mount the .sqb files that were backed up in SQLBackup 5.4.

COPYTO to network share fails from time to time

Hi,

I am using RedGate SQL Backup Pro v5.3 on SQL Server 2005 running on a Windows Server 2008 R2 x64 server with 96GB of RAM.

I am seeing COPYTO failures (warning 141) every now and then. I searched the forums and tried setting MAXDATABLOCK and MAXTRANSFERSIZE parameters to the lowest possible setting, but that did not seem to help fix it. I have verified that it is not a permissions issue because the COPYTO goes through sometimes without failing.

We have the same version of SQL Backup Pro running on other Windows Server 2003 servers where we do not see any such errors.

Informational Messages

In earlier versions of SQLBackup, was the output generated ever sent as SQL informational messages?

I ask because we have an older application that handled log shipping and it verified the backup was successful by reading an informational message sent from the SQL command.

However, now I see that restores only do select statements to generate output messages. Is this (relatively) new?

How do i connect my computer to my other computers internet? I am thinking of getting a Studio XPS 8000 gaming computer, and i was wondering if i can connect that to my other computers internet without buying anything extra. My other computer is connected to a wired router. The router has an antennae. Thanks in advance.

As it mentions in the post that you quoted, it is necessary to install sqbsetlogin manually, as it is not configured with the shipped version of SQL Backup.
