RE: SSC Won't Link to remote Subversion Source

Can I check which version of SQL Source Control you've got installed? In the most recent version (3.1.4.72) we fixed an issue that made linking databases take much longer than it should have - if you're not using that version, can you try updating and let me know if it's still an issue?

RE: SSC Won't Link to remote Subversion Source

I replied to an older thread, but I am using SSC and am running into a problem with linking.

from the other thread (sorry about the double post)
I have a local instance that was linked to a path in a subversion repository. After committing the changes in to this branch, I unlink and pointed it to a different location. When starting, it gets stuck at 10% and goes no further.

note: I had originally pointed the link to trunk, because I had used sql compare to bring down all the differences between our production db and my local instance. Then I committed these into trunk for a starting point.
Then I branched this into a new branch. This new branch is what I am trying to link to.

Changes to RedGate_SQLSourceControl_Engine_EngineOptions.xml

As a result of timeouts and "unknown" user changes in a shared DB Source Control environment, we are trying to edit the RedGate_SQLSourceControl_Engine_EngineOptions.xml to set the polling times and to use a dedicated CHANGELOG database rather than TempDB.

After doing the changes and saving the edited XML file, a restart of SSMS overwrites this file back to the original XML. You can see in the file updated datetime in windows change as SSMS is opened again.

Can anyone advise how to persist the changes to this file on a user machine?

Many thanks in advance

Multiple DB's in VisualSVN Repository

Hi Guys

Just setting up source control on new server. We have a vendor supplied app which uses 7 databases (clearly they never heard of schemas or anything like that). Anyway, when I setup repositories for these, can I use a single repository, or do i need to use one per DB?

Thanks
RE: Error after intial commit

Hello,

Thanks for reporting this. It is a known issue ( SC-5719 ). The root cause is stored procedures (and possibly functions) that specify an input parameter that has a length of MAX. The text parser behind SQL Source Control expects a numeric value as the length of an input parameter.

Error after intial commit

Hi

I've commited an initial version of a db (sql 2008)

When attempting to view the commit changes tab afterwards - I get this error:

Tried to the Size of a data type that specifies its parameters using a keyword

Is this a known issue?

Thanks

newbie question: diff between latest checkin and db-version

If I have modified a Stored Procedure in the database, (how) can I make a diff-operation between the lastest checked in version and the code that is in the database, without checking it in?
I want to see the differences like in Show History.

RE: How to configure the polling interval to reduce server load

The regular polling on your server to determine what you've changed won't happen. This means that to see the blue indicators in the Object Explorer you will need to visit the Commit tab.

RE: How do I add SQL Source Control to SSMS 2012?

You will need to ensure that you are using at least version 3.0.9, but preferably the latest version. If you already have the latest version, then you will probably need to re-install so that it gets registered with the new SSMS install correctly.

I've been using SQL Source Control for a few months with SSMS 2008 R2. I have just installed SSMS 2012. How do I get SQL Source Control integrated into SSMS 2012? It still works with SSMS 2008 R2.
