Simple Talk has always revolved around Redgate’s value of keeping things ‘ingeniously simple’. This is something which was reflected in the previous iteration of the blog, but keeping it fresh and user-friendly is also priority for us at Simple Talk. After months of planning, we’re proud to be releasing a revamped design that enhances both the aesthetics and functionality of the blog. Let’s dive into what makes this new look and feel stand out.
It looks pretty!
The first thing you’ll notice is the updated, modern design. Simple Talk has embraced a clean, minimalist layout for years, and it now has the benefit of richer navigation that allows for easier exploration of our learning resources.
Can be accessed anywhere…
In today’s mobile-first world, responsiveness is non-negotiable. The new design offers a seamless experience across all devices. Whether you’re reading on a desktop, tablet, or smartphone, the content adjusts perfectly to your screen size, ensuring you get the same high-quality experience everywhere. Naturally, some content will be easier to read on larger devices – especially those with complex graphics and code – but we want to make Simple Talk your daily commute companion.
Expanded content
Our fantastic array of existing written content will now be joined by video, podcasts and events! To support these changes, we’ve integrated various new media elements as part of the redesign, such as article imagery, and more will be coming in the future. These future additions include video content, expandable code-boxes and more – all to provide a more engaging and informative experience.
What about existing content? We have worked to ensure all these changes complement the existing written content, while making complex technical topics easier to access.
Community focused
Simple Talk wouldn’t exist without input from the community – after all, our authors are made up of technology and data professionals from all over the world. The new design reflects the variety of expertise and topics available, as well as providing more opportunities for community engagement. Features such as comments and social sharing buttons are now more accessible and are a key element of the Simple Talk ecosystem, allowing for better interaction with authors and peers.
What else is changing?
We’re not stopping here. Over the coming months we’ll be releasing various updates and changes to keep improving the user experience of the blog, including:
- Navigation and Category updates
- Hosting event notifications
- Enhanced profile pages and personalized homepages
And that’s not all – we’ll be introducing even more user-focused improvements further down the line as we constantly strive to make Simple Talk even easier to use and navigate. We’d love to hear your feedback.
As always, our comments section is open for community engagement and discussion, and we’d love to know your thoughts on the changes we’ve made so far. Feel free to drop a comment at the end of the post!
