This article is part of a series of posts on the forthcoming SQL Server 2025 release. Once 2025 has been released, posts will be kept if the feature hasn't changed for the final release. For other posts in this series, you can find them in this collection.
On Monday, May 19, 2025, SQL Server 2025 was announced as finally going to be in public preview. Instead of rumors or going to a Bob Ward session at a conference, you can now experience it for yourself. In this blog, I want to give you a few links I have found that can help you in your journey, as well as make note of how you can find SQL Server 2025 content here on Simple Talk.
On Simple Talk

- SQL Server 2025 Preview Collection – All the articles will be on that page once they are published

Other Links
In this section, I will keep a list of links that might help you out as you get started with SQL Server 2025. I will add any new sites that will help you on this journey here, and would love to hear from you any additions to this list you might have (even your own blog!)
- Bob Ward Announcement on LinkedIn – Bob Ward is one of my favorite people in the community (It is not a small list, admittedly, but he is really close to the top) and he gives good information and if great to listen to.
- Microsoft.com 2025 Blogging Series – Of course there will be some marketing in here, but this should be a good place to find new blogs from Microsoft on the subject in the future.
- What’s New in SQL Server 2025 Preview – While it sounds like Dr Suess wrote that, the What’s new entries on the learn.microsoft.com site are always a good place to go and see what is new that you need to try out (and blog about!)
- Brent Ozar’s 2025 Articles Categorized as SQL Server 2025 – Brent is going to dig at the product and see what he can find.. and share it.
- Reddit SQL Server Group (searching for 2025) – The SQLServer subreddit is interesting, and you should hear more than a bit of chatter about it in there in the coming weeks and months.
