If you’re a database professional, IT expert, or tech enthusiast, we’ve got something exciting for you—Simple Talks, our very own podcast. We are starting out with twice monthly episodes covering various topics and getting to know members of the technical community. And absolutely no shenanigans. Probably.

To start with, there will be two different shows. The first, hosted by me, is a coffee chat where I will interview members of the technical community with my not at all patented three (or so) question interview. How did you get started in tech, what technology do you love, and what else do you do. That and a random question about technology, practices, etc.

The second with be a sit-down format with my excellent peer-hosts Grant Fritchey, Steve Jones and Ryan Booz, diving deep into the tech topics that matter most to you.

So, why should you tune in? A few reasons, other than the possibility of shenanigans.

Diverse and Relevant Topics: Simple Talks isn’t just about databases. We cover everything from DevOps and data to general programming techniques, careers and professional development. We even tackle the unique tech challenges faced by different industry sectors.

Expert Insights: Our hosts and special guests aren’t just talking heads; we’re seasoned pros with years of experience. We share career stories, industry highlights, and deep dives into how and why technology is adopted and used. You’ll get the benefit of our hard-earned wisdom, minus the bumps and bruises.

Actionable Advice: Whether you’re a developer, administrator, architect, or IT professional, you’ll find practical tips and best practices you can apply immediately. We’re all about giving you the tools you need to succeed.

Encouragement: The reason for the coffee chat concept is centered around the first question: “how did you get started in tech?” It won’t take us too many episodes to hit on someone’s story that is very similar to yours. Unless you are retiring next week, you might get some ideas on how to grow your career.

And lastly, but most importantly:

Community Connection: Simple Talks is about more than just tech; it’s about building a community. By tuning in, you’ll connect with like-minded professionals who share your passion and challenges. It’s a great way to feel part of something bigger.

Episode 1 is out now!

In this episode of Simple Talks, Steve, Ryan and Grant delve into the latest happenings in their world of travel and events. From major conferences to smaller user groups, there’s an overview of recent and upcoming events such as PASS Data Community Summit, PGConf, THAT conference, Redgate Summits and local developer meetups. They discuss key takeaways, the impact these gatherings have on the industry and the benefits of building a diverse professional network and how it can open doors to new opportunities.

Simple Talks covers a wide range of topics and, as a database professional, you know that staying on top of the latest trends and techniques is crucial. But it’s not just about the tech.
