Tools for Cloud Construction

I’ve been reviewing the tools coming from Microsoft that help you deploy and manage your SQL Azure database over on Scary DBA. Over here, quite frankly, I’ve been pointing out that we have a selection of tools that are already working better than those coming from the MS tool set. But I hadn’t seen them all in one place like this. Well done guys.

Look, Microsoft is going to the Cloud. They’re “all in.” To me, this means that I need to, at least, be aware of what they’re doing. But probably, it means I need to get in there, understand how data in the Cloud works and what I can do with it. I suspect most of you are in the same spot. How great then that many tools you probably already own work extremely well with the Cloud. today. We’re just going to get better.

Here’s the key, data is data. It doesn’t matter if it’s stored in the Cloud or not. The processes that are going to compel you to use a tool like SQL  Compare or SQL Data Compare are still in place in the Cloud. It’s that simple.
