Information collected by Redgate products

To help us improve product quality and features, Redgate tools collect a little information about how they are used. All products share some basic usage information with Redgate (this is set out in our privacy policy) and you have the option to participate in our quality improvement program which shares more detailed information.

We're currently changing the way some of this technology is implemented in our products, so it’s not yet completely consistent across them all. There's more information below on which products use which settings.

Information shared

Some data is always shared with Redgate:
  • Simple system information such as operating system, localization details, processor and the amount of memory
  • When the product is used

If you participate in the quality improvement program, products may share other information.
This varies depending on the product, but may typically include:
  • Product settings and options selected
  • Feature usage information such as buttons clicked

Information that is not collected:
  • Personal data such as internet history, or what you use the program for
  • Files opened by the program

How Redgate uses this information

Information you share allows us to improve product quality and features in a variety of ways, for example:
  • Better understanding how our products are being used so we can improve them
  • Prioritizing features to work on in future product releases
  • Diagnosing problems and errors in products
  • Helping decide which platform versions to support

Opting out of the quality improvement program

You can choose not to share detailed information about how you use Redgate products by setting your preference in product:
  1. Go to the Help menu, in one of the participating products
  2. Click on 'Help us improve our products'
  3. In the window that opens make sure the check box is not selected

This setting is shared across some Redgate products (see list of participating products below), other products may collect information and have their own individual settings.

Opting out for all products

We're working towards all Redgate products using a single shared setting to control opt in for the quality improvement program.

The current Redgate products that use a single shared setting are:

  • SQL Compare

  • SQL Data Compare

  • SQL Data Generator

  • SQL Dependency Tracker

  • SQL Doc

  • SQL Index Manager

  • SQL Multi Script

  • SQL Test

  • SQL Prompt

  • SQL Search

  • SQL Source Control

  • DLM Automation

  • SQL Backup

  • ReadyRoll

  • Redgate Installer

Other products are still using their own individual settings.
