SQL Compare®
Walk-through 1: Using SQL Compare
This walk-through will show you:
- How to compare your databases
- How to understand the results produced by SQL Compare
- How to synchronize your databases
Step 4: Viewing the SQL differences between databases
By clicking on an object, you can see exactly how the SQL differs in the two instances in the SQL Differences pane. In the center column, two different symbols are used to distinguish the types of differences. When a difference is present in the source database but not in the target, we use an arrow. When it is present in the target but not in the source database – i.e. when the SQL in question is going to be eliminated by a synchronization, we use a red warning X. In addition, the line of SQL in question, as well as the word, is highlighted to indicate exactly where the difference is. If there is no icon, then the two lines are identical. Objects can also be easily filtered by using the Filter Objects button.
Once you've decided which objects you want to include in the synchronization, hit the Synchronization Wizard button.
