When did you join Red Gate?

It was a cold day in August 2009

What was your first ever job?

My first ever job was helping a guy assemble computers for offices when I was 14. I loved it, it was like glorified Lego.

Before you arrived at Red Gate what did you do?

I was a Test Engineer at a games company. It was a pretty interesting job but quite difficult. Testing in games development has historically been focused near the end of the development cycle which can make it quite frantic.

What does your job involve on a day-to-day basis?

Mostly writing automation code and learning about Oracle. Almost every day I'm probably finding that I don't know a lot about something new.

What do you like about working in Software Testing at Red Gate?

Working on products I'm really proud of, working with great people, working at a company where testing isn't an afterthought. There are loads of reasons I love being a Test Engineer here.

Nothing, in fact I regularly find things I know very little about.

What's your favourite book?

Siddartha by Herman Hesse. It's very relaxing.

What super power do you wish you had (or have but aren't telling anyone because that's the point of being super)?

The ability to read books super fast, the ability to do everything super fast! Wait, maybe not everything…

Why did you choose Red Gate?

I read the job spec and it sounded amazing. I actually came to Cambridge to take another job but ended up here because I was so impressed.

What are your favourite Red Gate perks?

I want to say the free lunches but it's probably the random happening things. There is a social committee here that organises random stuff and it's always great. I really like that.

What's your most memorable Red Gate experience so far?

Falling for the CEO's April Fools Day joke. He won't be laughing next year when I set his car on fire.

What's your stance on Marmite?

Honey > Peanut Butter > Jam > Marmite.
