Red Gate releases SQL Backup Pro Edition for enterprise-level SQL Server implementations

Bundle includes two tools "that should be a part of every DBA's toolbox"

CAMBRIDGE, U.K., January 17, 2006 – Red Gate Software today released SQL Backup Pro Edition, providing high-performance backup and recovery for enterprise-level SQL Server implementations.

SQL Backup Pro Edition, available for $495 per server for a 10-server license, combines Red Gate's SQL Backup and SQL Log Rescue products in a discounted software bundle. It is compatible with both SQL Server 2005 and SQL Server 2000.

Highest levels of security

SQL Backup Pro Edition provides multiple encryption levels up to 256-bit using the AES algorithm, the same standard specified by the U.S. government for encrypting top-secret data.

"Encrypting database backups to the highest levels has become critical due to U.S. regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPAA, and California SB 1386," says Simon Galbraith, Red Gate's marketing director. "SQL Backup Pro makes it simple to ensure data integrity, security and recovery at these levels."

The software bundle sets new standards for convenience and flexibility, enabling users to connect and manage all server backups remotely from a central client-based GUI, and take advantage of wizards to plan SQL backups and automate log shipping. Object-level recovery and log analysis is provided through SQL Log Rescue.

According to Red Gate, advanced compression levels in SQL Backup Pro Edition provide up to 95 percent smaller backups and deliver speeds up to three times as fast as native SQL Server backups.
