Red Gate releases SQL Backup 3.0 for compressed and encrypted backups

CAMBRIDGE, U.K., February 17, 2005 – Red Gate Software has released SQL Backup 3.0, a $295 software tool that provides compressed and encrypted backups for SQL Server 2000 databases.

SQL Backup 3.0 offers three primary advantages over native SQL Server backup:

• It saves hardware resources by taking up less space – Compression reduces backup sizes by an average of 60 to 90 percent.
• It saves time – Testing shows that a sample 22 GB database can be compressed and written to disk in eight minutes vs. 25 minutes using native SQL Server backup.
• It's secure – Compressed files can be encrypted and the software detects tampering attempts.

Like all Red Gate Software products, SQL Backup 3.0 is designed to provide a simple, elegant solution to common problems faced by Microsoft developers and DBAs.
