CAMBRIDGE, U.K., February 17, 2005 – Red Gate Software has released SQL Backup 3.0, a $295 software tool that provides compressed and encrypted backups for SQL Server 2000 databases.

SQL Backup 3.0 offers three primary advantages over native SQL Server backup:

Like all Red Gate Software products, SQL Backup 3.0 is designed to provide a simple, elegant solution to common problems faced by Microsoft developers and DBAs.

"This product addresses the need for compressed, fast, secure and affordable SQL database backup," says Simon Galbraith, Red Gate's Marketing Director. "These are critical factors for our customers, especially those who need to economically protect their data against hardware failure, hackers and database corruption."

SQL Backup 3.0 includes the following major features:

"Based on my testing, I'm very impressed with this product," says Jasper Smith, a SQL Server Most Valued Professional (MVP).  "Backup speed and compression are very good and it offers excellent value for money for SQL shops that want to reduce their storage costs."
