FAQ for Red Gate's acquisition of HyperBac Technologies

HyperBac is a company with a strong track record for innovation in the areas of database and storage technology. The founders are experienced in the database tools industry, and were part of the first team to develop a backup compression product for SQL Server.

Over the last several years, HyperBac Technologies has developed innovative software solutions for IT professionals, primarily for SQL Server. With the help of HyperBac technologies, Red Gate aims to develop a greater range of database and system administration tools and deliver them to a wider base of users.

In the short term, there will be minimal changes. HyperBac customers with product support agreements will receive ongoing support from HyperBac while support operations are integrated with Red Gate over time. Red Gate will continue to uphold HyperBac product support agreements.

Over time, more of the day-to-day HyperBac product support and sales operations will be integrated into Red Gate's operations. Information about HyperBac products will start to appear on the Red Gate website. Customers will be advised of any future changes or developments that affect them.

Red Gate will continue to maintain the same high level of customer service, support and contact that customers expect. SQL Backup Pro customers can continue to purchase, interact with Red Gate, and receive support through www.red-gate.com, by telephone, email and all other mediums we offer for customers and evaluators.

Using a combination of the strength of HyperBac technologies and Red Gate's experience in producing relentlessly tested tools with a high focus on usability, we plan to offer IT professionals an even wider range of time-, effort- and cost-saving tools in future.

Both products address core needs by reliably compressing and encrypting SQL Server backups. One key aim of the acquisition is to enable SQL Server professionals to take advantage of the complementary approaches to SQL Server backup offered by HyperBac for SQL Server and Red Gate SQL Backup Pro.
