Before you arrived at Red Gate what did you do?

I was working as an administrator/receptionist for a technology company in Cambridge.

What does your job involve on a day-to-day basis?

It is a very varied job, which I enjoy as I detest being bored! The Sales Admin team deals with general admin tasks, such as processing invoices and replying to emails. We also do a lot of customer service tasks, such as helping people who are having trouble activating their software and dealing with licensing enquiries. A large part of our job involves credit control, which I love. It's a real achievement bringing money in for the company, and I get very excited when a big cheque that I've been waiting for arrives!

What do you need to be a Sales Administrator?

You definitely need an eye for detail, as we have a lot of contact with customers, and sending out emails with typing errors doesn't look too good. You also need to be organised and able to manage your time, as there are so many different things to do each day and the phone will always ring when you're in the middle of something important! I also think having a forward-going personality helps, as you spend so much time on the phone to customers and dealing with the Sales team.

Why did you choose Red Gate?

I was looking for a dynamic, up-and-coming company where there were opportunities for development and growth. Red Gate also had a great atmosphere and all the people I met during my interview were very friendly and put me at ease at once.

What are your favourite Red Gate perks?

The lunches are great; it's good to get out of the office and chat about things other than work – Red Gate really looks after their staff in that respect.

I also like the fact that anything you need to make your job easier is provided for you.

The Feel Good events are always good fun, especially the casino night!

What's your most memorable Red Gate experience so far?

Meeting the group bonus target – there was a fantastic atmosphere that night and it made me very glad I worked in the Sales department, where the action happens!
