Multiple scripts against multiple servers in one click with Red Gate's SQL Multi Script
CAMBRIDGE, U.K., November 27, 2007 - Red Gate has released SQL Multi Script, new software that enables SQL DBAs to execute multiple scripts against multiple SQL Servers with just one mouse click.
With SQL Multi Script, DBAs no longer need to spend hours deploying a set of identical scripts across different databases on different servers. From a single, intuitive interface, they can create or open multiple scripts, edit them, execute them against their databases, and then review the results.
DBA in the driver’s seat
"DBAs told us it was a daunting task to execute a collection of scripts against a set of SQL Servers," says Helen Joyce, project manager for SQL Multi Script. "It wasn't just the time factor, but also the potential for human error because of the repetitive and monotonous nature of the job. There was a sheer look of relief from testers in our usability trials when they realized that they could manage data change across their SQL Servers in a faster, more logical manner."
SQL Multi Script puts DBAs in firm control of running multiple scripts across their servers. With a split-screen and colored syntax highlighting, DBAs can lay out multiple scripts, then view, parse and execute them against a customizable database distribution list. Aggregated results are provided, with different tabs set up for separate queries. Grid or text views of the results can be saved for use in an external application.
"The SQL Multi Script interface is like a great dashboard display in a car," says Joyce. "Procedures are ordered logically and the information necessary to push changes forward is easily accessible. DBAs can focus on the results of their actions and the road ahead."
"The potential to be a godsend"
SQL Multi Script radically changes tedious working patterns for DBAs such as Rodney Landrum.
"I can't tell you how many times a day I run the same query on multiple servers," says Landrum, who praises SQL Multi Script for its fast response times when executing his scripts.
Mark McCorkindale, a DBA who manages more than 50 SQL Server instances, describes SQL Multi Script as having "the potential to be a godsend."
A demo, walkthrough, and fully functional, 14-day trial download of SQL Multi Script can be found at www.red-gate.com.
