Learning SmartAssembly - 5.0
Getting started
SmartAssembly is an obfuscation and error reporting tool, designed to help every .NET developer produce better software. If you have invested time in your work, you want to protect your investment and improve the quality of your software. You can use SmartAssembly to strengthen your application and handle your error reports.
SmartAssembly obfuscates your .NET code, optimizes your .NET assemblies for better deployment, minimizes the distribution size of your code, increases performance, and adds powerful error-tracking and debugging capabilities to your valued application.
You can use SmartAssembly to:
- Merge and embed dependencies
- Prune code
- Obfuscate code
- Create proxies for calls that are made outside of your assembly
- Encode strings
- Report errors
- Compress and encrypt resources
- Optimize your software
- Generate debugging information
- Decode stack traces
How does SmartAssembly work?
Once your application is compiled and ready to ship, run SmartAssembly.
SmartAssembly analyzes your application and its dependencies, guiding you through the options of the project. Based on its analysis and the options you have chosen, SmartAssembly creates a new application that has been modified to include the changes you have made. It is a quick and easy process, which immediately generates an improved application ready to deploy.
Technical notes
As long as your Assembly is 100% managed, SmartAssembly can work with any kind of Application (Windows Forms Applications, Console Applications, and DLL Libraries) created with any version of the .NET Framework (from 1.0 through 4.0).
