SQL HyperBac - 5.0
Learning SQL HyperBac - 5.0
Getting started
SQL HyperBac works transparently with your existing backup, restore, export, and import routines to provide compression and encryption as backup data is streamed to disk.
SQL HyperBac's compression and encryption algorithms are fine-tuned to work efficiently with SQL Server backup data, and make compression and encryption available on a wide range of SQL Server versions without the need to install or upgrade complex software.
Installed on the SQL Server (Windows server) that is producing the backup data you want to compress and encrypt, SQL HyperBac remains separate from your SQL Server instances. You can continue to use native management tools without any changes to the way you work.
SQL HyperBac is compatible with:
- SQL Server 2008, 2005, and 2000
- Windows Server 2008 R2, 2008 and 2003
- Windows 7, Vista (32-bit and 64-bit), XP, and 2000
You can use SQL HyperBac to:
- compress physical and logical backups by up to 90% (achieving speed increases of up to 50% for backups and restores, and increased transaction throughput during backup operations)
- encrypt physical and logical backups (using AES-128, AES-192, or AES-256 encryption)
Technical notes
SQL HyperBac version 5.0 is backwards-compatible with backup files created by HyperBac for SQL Server (versions 3.x and 4.x). HyperBac for SQL Server (versions 4.3 and earlier) cannot be used to process backup files created by SQL HyperBac version 5.0.
You can configure SQL HyperBac to create backup files in a ZIP-compatible format (rather than using SQL HyperBac's proprietary compression). Any third-party application you use to decompress these ZIP-compatible files must support ZIP64.
