Getting started - Data Cleanser beta
Thank you for participating in the Data Cleanser beta program.
Data Cleanser is a Business Intelligence Development Studio component you can use to standardize data that may contain inconsistencies.
For example, you may have data that has been generated by human-input on a web form, and therefore is prone to typos, erroneous characters, and general inconsistency. You can use Data Cleanser to help you remove these inconsistencies.
Note: you can only use Data Cleanser beta on strings, however, later releases may support popular transforms on other data types.
Requirements
The following are required to use Data Cleanser:
- Microsoft SQL Server 2008 or SQL Server 2008 R2
- Microsoft SQL Server Business Intelligence Development Studio
- Microsoft .NET Framework version 3.5 or later.
Using Data Cleanser
To use Data Cleanser, do the following:
- Add Data Cleanser to the Business Intelligence Development Studio Toolbox
- Create a data flow that includes the Data Cleanser component
- Use the Data Cleanser interface to select data to cleanse and apply cleansing actions
