Where are the descriptions added by SQL Doc stored?

When you add a description for an object, this is added as an extended property and written to the database. Therefore, the user running SQL Doc needs write access to the database.

When you update the description field for a particular object in SQL Doc, as long as the account you have connected to the database with has permissions to edit the description, it will be updated in the SQL Server database as well. If you add a description for an object in SQL Doc, you should then be able to edit the properties of the object in SSMS and view the extended property MS_description that you just entered through SQL Doc. However, if you create the document and then change the description extended properties in SQL Server you will have to recreate the document for the changes to be updated as once the document is created it cannot be edited.
