SQL Virtual Restore - 2.4

SQL Virtual Restore

Installing and activating - SQL Virtual Restore

Installation

Installation is straightforward, with an install wizard that walks you through the installation process.

Note that, if you are upgrading from an earlier version of the software, you will need to reboot your server before you can use SQL Virtual Restore. Earlier versions of SQL Virtual Restore were provided as an add-on module to HyperBac for SQL Server and HyperBac Online.

If you want to virtually restore from encrypted SQL Backup backup files, using scripts rather than with the SQL Virtual Restore Wizard, you may need to manually install an extended stored procedure. See Working with encrypted backup files for more information.

At the end of the installation process, an activation dialog is displayed.

Activation

SQL Virtual Restore uses the standard Red Gate licensing and activation program. For more information, see Activating your products.

To re-run the licensing and activation program after you've installed SQL Virtual Restore, right-click the HyperBac Status Manager  in the Windows system tray, and select Configuration and Licensing.

License files

Earlier versions of SQL Virtual Restore (versions 1.xx and earlier) used a different method for licensing and activation that was based on license files.

The HyperBac Configuration Utility does not support the original licensing and activation method. If you are using version 1.xx or earlier of SQL Virtual Restore, you will need to contact Red Gate for a new serial key.
