SQL Dependency Tracker - 2.7
Exporting the diagram - SQL Dependency Tracker
You can export the dependency diagram to image, XML, or PDF format. You may want to export to an image or XML format, for example, if you want to insert the diagram into a report. You may want to export to a PDF file, for example, so that the diagram can be circulated easily to people who do not have SQL Dependency Tracker installed.
The exported version of the diagram has the same layout and level of detail as is currently enabled on the screen. This includes the color differences that indicate selected objects.
Alternatively you can copy the dependency diagram to your clipboard so that you can use it in other programs. For example, you can copy a diagram and then paste it into a Microsoft® Word document if you are creating a report.
Exporting to an image file or XML format
To export the diagram to image or XML format:
- on the File menu, click Export, and then click Image or XML as required
If you want to export a diagram to an image file for a Web site, it is usually better to export to PNG (Portable Network Graphics) format because this format is more widely supported by Web browsers. SQL Dependency Tracker saves the entire dependency diagram at the current zoom level. If the file is too large at the current zoom level (because there is not enough memory available to save the file), SQL Dependency Tracker saves the image at a lower resolution.
It is sometimes more appropriate to export to EMF (Windows Enhanced Metafile). For example, this may be the case if you are exporting the diagram to a vector drawing package. EMF format uses less disk space than the PNG image file for the same diagram; it is therefore particularly useful for exporting large diagrams. This format may also be less susceptible to pixelation when you print the image.
For large diagrams, you may prefer to copy the diagram into your report so that you can select the objects or area to be included in the image.
Exporting to a PDF file
To export the diagram to PDF format:
- on the File menu, click Export, then click PDF, and then click Diagram
SQL Dependency Tracker always exports the entire dependency diagram to a single PDF page.
For large diagrams, you may prefer to print the diagram using your own PDF writer as the printer, so that you can arrange the diagram across multiple pages.
