What people are saying about SQL Source Control
Red Gate's SQL Source Control gives us the ability to track and document changes, while SQL Compare and SQL Data Compare have enabled us to bring SQL Server to the continuous integration party that the rest of the department depend on. SQL Prompt and SQL Search have increased the productivity of our database developers and everyone is excited about SQL Test as it allows us to complete our agile Test Driven Development journey.Philip Bates, Senior Database Developer, Laterooms.com
Red Gate tools have become a standard that we can't live without and SQL Source Control is no different. SQL Source Control has been a core part of our development process.Grant Gaudette, President, Gaudette International
SSMS integration pack for Red Gate's SQL Compare and SQL Data Compare and SQL Source Control=win win!Gregor Suttie, Senior Software Engineer, Pulsion Technology
I'm anxious to get SQL Source Control up and running as I know the only way to deliver high quality SQL code is by having it under a SCM tool, vigorously testing, (thank you for SQL Test) and being able to confidently and consistently build/deploy the code. There is so much that Red Gate is doing to make Agile Database Development a reality. I'll finally be able to tell my AppDev friends to stow it when they say that database development can't be agile.Paul Hunter, NightOwl Development
After using SQL Source Control for several months, I wondered how I got by before. The ability to instantly keep database structure in synchronization across development, test and production environments instantly reduced the amount of work and potential for error. Highly recommended, it has paid for itself several times over.Ben Ashley, Fast Floor
...for the price you pay, you'll save the equivalent time on your next version releasePeter Vogel, Visual Studio Magazine (also see related blog post)
I was also able to demo the new version with the static data feature with Subversion... complete awesomeness... working great with TFS at work as well. I think my wife wishes I was as passionate about her as I am SQL Source Control.Rob Sullivan, DBA, IdeasRun
Using SQL Source Control has saved Snapper a considerable amount of time (and therefore money) and also lead to a higher standard of work.Corrin Lakeland, Snapper Payment Systems
Before using SQL Source Control, we'd tried a whole bunch of things. Sometimes we passed around manual backups, or
SQL CREATEscripts, but that meant only one developer could work on the database before we had to issue updates again. We tried Database projects in Visual Studio, but they were clunky, and rather fragile when we made substantial changes.
One of our developers eventually cooked–up his own sync tool. It was a time consuming project. We had to teach new developers how to use it, enforce certain conventions, and it only really worked when source and target could be accessed at once, which wasn't often.
But SQL Source Control did everything that could do, without wasting time or causing frustration...Integration with SSMS and TFS saved us a lot of hassle, but the major benefit has been the time its saved us making and pushing database changes. I'm not sure I could give that up again.Phil Gale, Red Jungle
Yesterday a vendor made a change to our database which broke some customer extracts. With SQL Source Control, I was able find exactly what the problem was and fix it in minutesScott Kowalczyk, Georgia Central Credit Union
I have been using SVN for years as my main version control system. It was tricky to do SQL Server versioning with it, I had to export the scripts and save them inside the working copy directory. Now it's much easier with Red Gate's SQL Source Control. I can do the versioning and get the updated version right inside SQL Server Management Studio. It saves so much time and reduces the hassle in maintaining database versions within my teamFerry Meidianto, Windows Phone MVP
Just FYI, I LOVE SQL Source Control. It saves me so much time in SQL Server!,Terry Bowman, Applications Developer for Transoceon (in Houston, Texas)
After working with SQL Source Control for a short time I'm truly impressed. As an independent consultant it's easy to get lost in the myriad of scripts I've created to solve client problems, and SQL Source Control will help me solve that problem. The ability to go back to see what changes I made to scripts and when will really save me a lot of time and help me provide much better service to my clientsAllen White, SQL Server MVP
Booyaa! Just finished adding all my databases to SVN using SQL Source Control. Amazing UI/UX experienceDave Dustin, SQL Server MVP

I must add that I have tried LOTS of source control programs for SQL Server, and SQL Source Control is far and away the best.Kenneth VeArd, System Architect, J&J World Wide Services
SQL Source Control is a BRILLIANT product! I have been doing this in two ways: either laboriously generating SQL scripts of entire databases and then committing them to SVN or making many, many regular backups of the databases and then restoring them as a different database and using SQL Compare to rollback changes for individual database objects. I can't generate scripts for individual database objects because there are simply too manyAndrew Jackson, Programmer/Developer, Accumulo Consulting (PTY) Ltd.
At this point we are really starting to see some good payback on our investment in the full SQL Developer Bundle. Those products were worth the investment back when we only used them sporadically for troubleshooting and DBA analysis, but now with SQL Source Control, they are becoming everyday-use products for the development team.Mark Caldwell, Software Engineering Manager, Interior Specialists, Inc.
