Requirements

Database servers supported:

SQL Storage Compress supports the following versions of Microsoft SQL Server: 2000 (SP 3 or later), 2005, 2008 and 2008 R2. They are supported in these editions:

• Developer Edition (32-bit)
• Standard Edition (32-bit)
• Enterprise Edition (32-bit)
• Enterprise Edition x64 (64-bit)
• Standard Edition x64 (64-bit)

Operating systems supported:

SQL Storage Compress supports the following Microsoft Windows operating systems:

• Windows XP Professional Service Pack 1 and Service Pack 2
• Windows Server 2003 Standard Edition
• Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition

For 32-bit versions of Windows, Service Pack 1 and Service Pack 2 are supported but not required.

For 64-bit versions of Windows, Service Pack 1 is required. For x64 it is installed automatically. Service Pack 2 is supported but not required.

• Windows Server 2008
• Windows Server 2008 R2
• Windows 7

Operating system requirements:

• 512 MB RAM

Supported backup types

Full, differential and transaction log backups created with native SQL Server, SQL Backup Pro (version 6.xx), and SQL HyperBac, amongst others, are all supported by SQL Storage Compress. Decryption for all backup types is supported.
