How does SQL Storage Compress work?

To create a compressed database, simply use SQL Storage Compress' wizard or your own T-SQL scripts to restore database backups to compressed files. Following the restore, you can drop the backup. Native SQL Server, SQL Backup Pro, SQL HyperBac backups, or other third-party tool backups are all supported.

SQL Storage Compress is powered by HyperBac technology, an industry-proven compression and encryption technology for SQL Server, and uses a Windows service to intercept SQL Server's read/write requests to the file system. Following the initial restore, SQL Storage Compress compresses and decompresses the file stream as required.
