When did you join Red Gate?

January 2010

What was your first ever job?

I worked as a Sales Assistant in Barratt's Shoe Shop when I was 15 and still at school.

Before you arrived at Red Gate what did you do?

I was an Executive Assistant within the Recruitment and Training team of a national training provider.

What does your job involve on a day-to-day basis?

The tasks that I do on a day to day basis are so varied that it would be impossible to list them all! Generally speaking, I look after every stage of the recruitment process from the moment we advertise and start receiving CVs from potential candidates, to the moment that we make a job offer. On a day to day basis I'm in touch with any number of candidates to let them know how they applications are getting on. I'm always really busy, which I love!

What do you like about working in Recruitment at Red Gate?

I love that I'm part of a great team! I feel trusted and responsible, every opinion counts and I always feel listened to. It's great to get to know candidates and follow their progress from the moment they apply to the moment they walk through the door on their first day. It's a great feeling to make that phone call telling someone they've got the job. It makes my day as well as theirs!

Complete the following sentence: I know everything there is to know about...

The TV series Sex and the City...

What's your favourite book?

Shamefully I don't have one! I tend to think that everything I read is my favourite book...until the next one comes along.

What super power do you wish you had (or have but aren't telling anyone because that's the point of being super)?

I wish that had an invincibility super power, a bit like the cheerleader from Heroes. I wouldn't be worried to keep it a secret either, it could be a great party trick!

Why did you choose Red Gate?

Red Gate sounded like a breath of fresh air in comparison to most other companies I was looking at – it suited me down to the ground.

What are your favourite Red Gate perks?

Free breakfast and lunch is fantastic although can be lethal if you're trying to watch what you eat!

What's your most memorable Red Gate experience so far?

Without doubt, advertising our vacancies by riding around the Science Park in an ice-cream van handing out free ice-cream! A close second would be taking part in our "Why We Love Working at Red Gate video" (not my best angle but it was great fun!)

What's your stance on Marmite?

I have a passionate deep hatred for Marmite or anything that I think could potentially taste like Marmite!
