Red Gate Software launches new SQL Backup Pro v4.5 supporting 64-bit servers

New tools ease migration to SQL Server 2005 for developers, DBAs; extend "ingeniously simple" approach to new Microsoft platform

CAMBRIDGE, U.K., June 12, 2006 – Red Gate Software, the specialist in database development tools, is set to launch its new SQL Backup Pro v4.5, a high-performance backup and recovery tool for SQL Server. The tool for creating faster, smaller, secure SQL Server backups will be officially released on June 30, 2006.

The new product will support 64-bit servers and is scalable to meet the needs of any SQL Server implementation, from 5 servers to 500. It can access and manage all server backups remotely from a central, client-based GUI, securing data and meeting compliance requirements, with military grade 256-bit AES encryption coding.

"SQL Backup Pro offers up to ten times faster backup and restore than native backup, and our pricing models are simple to understand, as unlike some we charge per server, rather than per processor, or for the amount of data used," said Helen Joyce, Project Manager for SQL Backup at Red Gate Software.

She added "Organizations secure databases but often fail to secure backups. Native SQL Server backups can be opened in Notepad. They just aren't secure."

With three levels of compression available, offering up to 95% smaller backups and a choice to optimize for speed or size, managing backups and restores becomes much simpler.

Users can also opt to mirror backups to create two or more files simultaneously to different disks, which minimises the risk of media error, and speeds up processes, while a user-friendly wizard (GUI) guides users, step-by-step, through the back up and restore process.

SQL Backup Pro is already being used by nearly 1,000 leading organizations, including GE, 3M, AT&T, Unilever, Panasonic and the US Navy.
