SQL Prompt 5 crashes VS 2008

I recently updated to version 5.2.4.1, now getting the VS 2008 crash, as reported by others. I have tried disabling SQL Prompt but still getting a crash when trying to preview a report. Is there any resolution, before I unistall? Been using SQL Prompt for years now, but this is a real problem for me.

We managed to get it sorted on one Windows XP machine by installing all Windows Updates (I think the problem was fixed by a .net update). Have another machine with the same problem, which I'll look at today to see if this corrects it.

I have the same problem from within a VS 2008 report project where the reports are published to SSRS 2008 R2.

Currently running SQL Prompt 5.3.2.2

Disabled SQL Prompt add-in within VS 2008

Im having the exact same problem as the person that posted this.

Just installed SQL prompt 5.1.6.35 , and it caused same problems with VS2008 crashing out when trying to preview SQL2008R2 report.

I have uninstalled it,and now I am not having problems anymore. Guess I wont be using SQL prompt.

I've found that the work around posted by David_S on Mon Jan 03, 2011 1:31 pm works within VS 2008. Doing this allows SQL Prompt to still be used within SSMS.

Although you may have to do it again when Redgate issues an update to SQL Prompt that installs a new version that resets its use in VS. I wasted a good part of this morning until I figured that out!

I've further noticed that if a report doesn't have any user selectable parameters VS doesn't crash/vanish. Very odd.
