It took 2.5 hours for virtual restore of 60GB databse on 64-bit SQL Server 2005 which I found bit strange (tested few times - same results). It was slower than running normal restore. How long it normaly takes for virtual restore of 60GB database and 250GB database?
Are the results I'm getting for virtual restore normal or not?
Thanks |

| Virtual Restore times are normally in line with RESTORE VERIFYONLY times as a rule of thumb, which are typically much faster than full physical RESTORE DATABASE operations. We are releasing an update next week which includes some virtual restore performance enhancements, especially for SQB backup files. You should also try virtually restoring backups from other SQL HyperBac backup formats (such as HBC or ZIP) as well. |
