Hi,
I somewhere read that it is not possible to embed assemblies that are not referenced in the main project.
Is that true? And when yes, then why?
Is there any way we can do this? I already tried to create the saproj file manually. But afterwards the assemblies are not embedded.
It would be very helpful if there is a solution.
Regards

Thanks for your post- currently, I believe the behaviour is as you describe (i.e. you can't do it!) - I'm not sure as to the underlying reason why; I think it's more a case of depending on how you then tried to use those assemblies you could encounter trouble.
We have a feature request already in place for letting you do this though (ref. SA-743) so I'll +1 it for you. It's marked as a "potential" fix in a future release so it's not something that's likely to appear in the short term though I'm afraid. |

Hi,
I have the same problem. I have a DLL that is referenced by the application project but SmartAssembly doesn't detect the dependency. The DLL is an image library that is used by the application and I could really do with embedding it in the EXE.
Can you please put another +1 on the feature request please.
Thanks |

I've got this problem too. I'm using Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.ExceptionHandling.dll
This in turn is using Microsoft.Practices.EnterpriseLibrary.ExceptionHandling.Logging.dll.
My project references both directly, but S/A doesn't seem to recognize the latter as a dependency.
It would be nice if I had a way to tell S/A to include it also.
P.S. -- For the time being, I added an unused method whose sole purpose is to directly reference a class in Logging dll. This has 'fixed' the problem for now. But it's just a hack. |
