Thanks for your post.
Could you confirm, does this error occur when launching the profiler itself (i.e. before you do anything) or when you launch the application you wish to profile? |

| Yes correct. It's the profiler that crashes. |

| Thanks for your reply. If the profiler itself is crashing then it's a little unusual, and may indicate something amiss on the machine itself. Out of curiosity, have you tried it on another computer so we can narrow it down to a problem on this specific machine? The "0xc0000005" error code is a fairly generic one IIRC, and can sometimes indicate a problem within the .NET Framework. If you can ensure that .NET 3.5 SP1 is installed, it's a good first step, and if it is, try a repair (I think on Windows 7 this means removing and re-adding it via the "Windows Features" facility) |

Hi,
yes, the problem is machine specific. Everything works fine in other physical and virtual environments. I tried re-installing 3.5 as you mentioned, but it still crashes. |

Thanks - I don't think we can suggest much more here unfortunately. I've got a couple of colleagues to also check over your error and there's many causes - such as a corrupt .NET framework (although you did repair this a different version may have the issue), a possibly corrupt NGen image, or dozens of other things.
It may well require a re-image of the machine to get it working though, unfortunately. |
