"Index was outside the bounds of the array" when comparing

SQL Data Compare v 9.1.0.365
Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise (x64)
SQL Server 2008 R2 Enterprise x64

When I compare an encrypted backup (created with SQL Backup 6.5) to a local database, Data Compare works it's way through the list of tables and then displays "Index was outside the bounds of the array" with the red X. The only thing that might be considered unusual on the affected table is it contains a large number of varchar(max) fields.

Hi Paul,

Unfortunately that is not enough information to make any determination about the problem (our fault), but I suspect it's some inconsistency in the schema rather than a backup-reading issue.

I'll send the debugging instructions via email.
