I am using SQL Server Management Studio 2008 with SQL Search 1.1 and every time I open Management Studio, I recieve the following error:

Quote:
Access is denied. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070005 (E_ACCESSDENIED))

Hi duhitsd,

We think this is due to a permissions problem when trying to update SSMS to add SQL Search's Ctrl+Alt+D keyboard shortcut.

Could you check if you have write access to the following directory?

%AppData%\Microsoft\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Tools\Shell

The particular files concerned are Current.vsk and User.vsk.

From what I can tell, the \Shell directory is marked as Read Only, which makes the contents of the folder read only as well. The folder is also hidden.

What steps do you suggest trying?
