| Is there an API in the profiler that the application being profiled can call so that it could, for example, trigger a GC, application memory dump or some other such thing? If so, where is the documentation for it and are there examples? |

It appears your question relates more to the Memory Profiler than the Performance Profiler. Assuming that is the case, the answer is that we are in the process of adding an API. You can download the latest early access build with the API added here:
