After installing version 5.0.0.365 I SSMS started hanging when connecting to a server (even the local server), unless I run SSMS as administrator.
I'm running on Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit joined to a domain. _________________ Paulo Morgado

This just got a lot stranger.
I was only trying to connect to the local SQL Server instance.
Once I connected to another instance with my normal user (which is local admin), the problem went away. I had another instance of SSMS running as Administrator at the moment, but that's not needed anymore. _________________ Paulo Morgado

| Having the same problem on the latest beta and the first beta completely stopped working tonight. Any news on a new beta for download? In its current form, SQL Prompt 5 EAP is unusable for me and with the prior beta not working, I'm reverting back to v4 until a new release comes out. |

Something just hangs and I get a taskbar notification saying that SSMS is busy every time I click it. _________________ Paulo Morgado

Click CANCEL on the initial connection dialogue, and then make your connects via Object Explorer etc.
You can modify SSMS to open an empty environment so you aren't constantly having to click CANCEL but that's the way I figured to get around this... |
