Feature Request - Command Logging

Would love a feature to log all commands run.

Logs could be saved to files like c:\...\LogDirectory\[ServerName]\[DatabaseName]\[YYYY-MM-DD].log

Entries would be timestamped.

This is fairly frequently requested. Many have asked for the ability to recall a previously run query to a query window.

Would you want all queries run on all databases to be logged? Is this for a given instance of SSMS, or do you expect it to know what has been run against a server from a different machine or a different tool?

A typical example of where this feature would have been useful to you in the past will be helpful to us.

All queries for all databases from given SSMS instance is what I'm after.

Partly to be able to reuse queries that we though were one time queries, but turn out to be handy again. Partly to log the work done. And partly to have a history of manual queries.

Is it important to log details about which connection the query was run against?

I think that the information about the connection is important. If you check the SSMS Tools Pack from Mladen Prajdic, he has this too. The only thing that is then missing, is to restore the command session - SSMS Tools Pack cannot do that, it just stores the information.
